There has been a small but noticeable narrowing in the polls, writes senior political analyst Chris Mason. The Conservatives are still ahead, but Labour is closing the gap.
According to the latest poll of polls, the Conservatives are on 38%, Labour is on 34%, the Liberal Democrats are on 11%, the SNP is on 6%, and the Greens are on 5%.
How the BBC is reporting this election
The general election takes place on 4 July 2024. It is the first time since December 2019 that the whole of the UK will be going to the polls.
