Bayer Leverkusen reach DFB Cup semi-finals with Stuttgart win
Stuttgart dominated the first half
Bayer Leverkusen booked their place in the DFB Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday.
The visitors, who dominated the first half, took the lead through Waldemar Anton's header in the 21st minute.
Leverkusen come back in the second half
However, Leverkusen came out firing in the second half and equalised through Moussa Diaby just five minutes after the restart.
Jeremie Frimpong gave the hosts the lead for the first time in the 63rd minute, but Stuttgart substitute Serhou Guirassy levelled the scores again with a fine finish in the 80th minute.
Bayer win in extra time
The game went into extra time, and Leverkusen eventually snatched the victory thanks to Amine Adli's goal in the 117th minute.
The win sees Leverkusen reach the DFB Cup semi-finals for the first time since 2020, while Stuttgart's hopes of silverware this season are over.
