S. Scheffler Wins by 4 Strokes in Florida

Scottie Scheffler won the 2022 THE PLAYERS Championship by four strokes on Sunday, March 13th, at TPC Sawgrass. Scheffler shot a final round of 69 (-3) to finish at 17-under 271 for the tournament. Brian Harman and Xander Schauffele tied for second place at 13-under 275.

Scheffler took a three-stroke lead into the final round and never looked back. He birdied the first hole and made pars on the next three holes. He then birdied the 5th and 6th holes to extend his lead to five strokes. Harman made a birdie on the 7th hole to cut Scheffler's lead to four strokes, but Scheffler answered back with a birdie on the 8th hole. Harman made another birdie on the 9th hole to close the gap to three strokes, but that was as close as he would get.

Scheffler made pars on the first four holes of the back nine. He then bogeyed the 14th hole, but he came right back with a birdie on the 15th hole. He made pars on the 16th and 17th holes to seal the victory.

Scheffler's win is his first at THE PLAYERS Championship. It is also his third win of the 2022 season. He is now the world's No. 1 ranked golfer.

With his victory, Scheffler becomes the first player to win the THE PLAYERS Championship and the Masters Tournament in the same year since Tiger Woods in 2001.
